Kirby Smart shares how Nate Frazier has improved following impressive freshman season carrying Georgia's backfield originally appeared on A to Z Sports.Georgia Bulldogs sophomore running back Nate Frazier is expected to take on a larger role in 2025, but he should be more than ready to handle whatever workload is thrown his way.

As a true freshman, Frazier had no problem being thrust into the starting job in Georgias 2024 season opener against the Clemson Tigers, stepping in for the injured Trevor Etienne.

He went on to play a significant role for the Bulldogs throughout the season, finishing with 671 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 133 carries.According to Smart, the young, yet, experienced runner has shown a ton improvement between then and now, which should put the rest of the SEC on notice.

His knowledge and pickups," Smart said.

"Third down, pass pro, knowing when I can get in, when I can get out, when I have to stay in and protect, how I protect.

The knowledge and understanding of that is not having to rely on the quarterback to tell you, I think thats big.

His confidence in his run and his ability to give effort and conditioning level are much better than he was as a freshman. From what Smart noted during SEC Media Days, he wants to run the ball a lot more this fall.

This summer, weve changed things were doing that I wont disclose, that were saying, okay, how do we get better at running the ball? We gotta run the ball more," Smart said.

"We gotta practice running the ball more.

So thats a big point of emphasis for us.That means a ton of opportunities for Frazier to show off his improvement, starting on August 30 for Georgia's home opener against Marshall.
