The Boston Red Sox have many key players from their 2024 roster who are set to hit the free-agent market this offseason, including starting pitcher Nick Pivetta.

Pivetta was originally traded to the Red Sox back in 2020 alongside Connor Seabold for Heath Hembree, Brandon Workman and cash.

He went on to appear in 131 games (making 107 starts) over five seasons in Boston while posting a 4.29 ERA, 4.18 FIP, 1.243 WHIP and 10.2 K/9.

In 2024, he pitched in 27 games and made 26 starts, posting a 4.14 ERA, 4.07 FIP, 1.126 WHIP and 10.6 K/9.

Now, at 31 years old, Pivetta is expected to become a free agent for the first time in his career, and it doesn't feel like he'll be starting for the Red Sox again in 2025.

While many teams will likely have an interest in signing the Canadian righty, how much could he be worth? According to Spotrac , Pivetta's projected to receive a four-year, $60.4 million deal this offseason.

They compared his production to Sean Manea (who received a two-year, $28 million), Michael Lorenzon (who got $4.5 million over one year), Martin Perez (who signed a one-year contract worth $8 million) and Eduardo Rodriguez (who agreed to a four-year, $80 million deal).

A $15 million AAV is double his 2024 salary ($7.5 million), and with Boston likely looking to add top-end arms to their rotation, they probably won't be spending that kind of money on Pivetta this offseason.
