PLATTSBURGH On October 18th, the public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain club to hear a talk by Dr.

Aude Lochet, SUNY Plattsburgh Water Resources Extension Specialist.

Lochet will give a talk on Aquatic Invasive species currently in Lake Champlain and others at its doorstep.

Dr.

Lochets talk, which is free and open to the public, begins at 8:00p.m.

in the church sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh.

Everyone is welcome and this is a free event.

We will be at the church of Nazarene, 187 Broad St, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Check in will begin at 8:30am with the clinic officially starting at 9am.

The players of the Martens are going to teach the kids some different basketball skills.

Its going to be a fun day.

Everyone should bring a ball if they have one if not we have some extra ones.

The kids afterwards can take pictures and get some autographs from the players if they want to.

There will be a little q/a where the kids get to ask the players questions.

Afterwards the players will be having a closed scrimmage against Clinton Community College.

SARATOGA The Beekmantown Cross Country teams competed at the Saratoga Invitational held at Pitney Meadows Community Farm this past weekend.

The Beekmantown Boys finished 3rd behind state ranked Class A schools Chaminade and Saratoga Springs.

The Eagles were the top Class C finisher of the 15 schools competing.

Nolan Laidman earned a medal for his 7th place finish with a new personal record of 16:33 for the 5k distance.

Jonathan Slick (17:07) and Loghan Strickland (17:19) earned ribbons for their respective finishes of 17th and 23rd.

Rounding out the scoring for Beekmantown was Chris Lincourt -38th in 18:11, Hayden Miller-Whipple -43rd in 18:24, Escher Hoffman- 72nd in 19:56 and Patrick Rabideau (77th in 20:21).

The Beekmantown Girls finished 6th out of 12 teams in a highly competitive field.

Olivia Drowne led the way in 18th to earn a ribbon with a time of 20:59.

She was followed by Emily Marro-29th in 21:34, Bristol Provost-39th in 22:29, Samantha Welch-46th in 23:17, Ryleigh Baker-57th in 24:29,Addison Jewell-61st in 25:06 and Cameron Benware-66th in 25:29..
