Cardinals injury update: Rookie OL Hayden Conner has knee injury

Updated Aug. 17, 2025, 1:19 a.m. by Cardinals Wire 1 min read

The Arizona Cardinals did not play well on Saturday in their second preseason game, losing to the Denver Broncos 27-7.

However, excluding one injury, they seemed to come out of the game healthy.

Only one player exited the game without being able to return rookie offensive lineman Hayden Conner.

Conner started the game at center but exited after the third play.

It was a knee injury and he did not return.

He was ruled out fairly quickly.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said they "would look at that tomorrow."He also noted that a pair of players had cramps but returned.

Based on players who went down and then played later, cornerback Jaylon Jones and running back Zonovan Knight were those guys.

Conner, who played guard all through college, has been getting a lot of work at center.

He got the start there on Saturday because Jon Gaines, coming back from a thumb injury, "still can't snap."If Conner's injury is serious, it changes things for the offensive line and the active roster.

Conner appears to be a player the Cardinals want to keep on the 53-man roster, but they probably won't have him be in their top eight linemen who would dress on game days.

We will find out more in the days to come.
