Santana Moss 'overwhelmed with joy' with Commanders' adding him into the Ring of Fame

Santana Moss was a college walk-on who became a first-round draft choice, and on Sunday, he was told he was going to be inducted into the Washington Ring of Fame."I can't even describe it, man, honestly.
I haven't had this much emotion build up in me in a long time.
Last time I boo hoo cried this much is when I lost somebody.
I'm overwhelmed with joy right now.
"All Redskins fans who saw Moss come to Washington in 2005 will always recall him most for his fantastic fourth-quarter performance against the Cowboys in Dallas in 2005.
In only his second game as a Redskin, playing on Monday Night Football in Dallas, the Redskins trailed the Cowboys 13-0 when Mark Brunell connected with Moss on a 39-yard touchdown with 3:46 remaining.
The next time Washington regained possession, Brunell sent Moss deep again, and this time it was a 70-yard touchdown pass with 2:35 remaining, which led to the 14-13 remarkable Redskins comeback win over Dallas.Secondly, Moss recalled his three-touchdown performance against the Giants on Christmas Eve in the 2005 season's final home game, when apparently Moss got word that former Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith had said something to the effect that Moss was not a receiver worthy of making the Pro Bowl.
It was a big win, pushing the Redskins to 9-6 on the season.
The following week, they would finish the season with a win in Philadelphia for a 10-6 record and a playoff birth."It's gratifying just to know you are going to be appreciated.
I've got enough friends, family and people who really love me and care about me and give me all I need when it comes to love.
So I don't look for much from folks.
But to be remembered this way by this organization? Yeah, I love the feeling."It's interesting how Moss was informed.
He and Brian Mitchell (former Redskins running back) were on set together, and Moss says Mitchell suddenly said that Moss was going to be honored by the organization, to which Moss, being surprised, was stunned.Moss would go on to say that what he is most proud of is the times things were not going well for the team, the losses, and yet he felt fans could see No.
89 went out there and laid it on the line for the team.Moss did say he has, over the years, had family and friends mention the Ring of Fame to him, that they felt Moss should be there.
But he tried not to think about it, and never said he "should" be honored in that way, because in life, sometimes you simply don't get honored that way, and you have to continue doing what you are supposed to be doing presently. In his 10 seasons with Washington, from ages 26 to 35 (2005-2014), Moss accumulated 581 pass receptions for 7,867 yards and 47 receiving touchdowns.
He spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the NY Jets from 2001 to 2004.This article originally appeared on Commanders Wire: Santana Moss humbled and honored by Commanders' gesture.
