Nebraska missed out on taking a top-25 ranking into its bye week.

Barely.

The Huskers checked in at the equivalent of No.

27 in both the Associated Press and coaches polls released Sunday afternoon.

In both cases they are right behind fellow-unranked USC.

College footballs hierarchy endured another round of shakeups last weekend with losses by teams ranked Nos.

1, 4, 9, 10, 11, 22 and 25 in the AP poll.

Nebraska played as the equivalent of No.

29 against then-unbeaten Rutgers, which was essentially No.
