When the Denver Broncos signed an undrafted Utah State wide receiver in May, they announced him as Kyrese White.

Just over a month later when training camp kicked off, he was listed on the roster as Kyrese Rowan.

That's a new name to us, but a familiar name to the player.

He was born with the name Kyrese Rowan, but was raised by his stepdad, Emmett White, from age six.

His stepfather also played college football at Utah State and even made the school's Hall of Fame.

Before the 2023 season, Rowan changed the name on his jersey to "White" to honor his stepdad.

Hes my stepdad, but I call him my dad because hes been there for the majority of my life," Rowan told The Utah Statesman's Madison Weber in 2023.

"I wanted to pay tribute to him because hes been there with me through every step." After reaching the NFL, Rowan switched back to his legal name with the Broncos.
