Duncan Davitt, Ben Peoples Head To White Sox In Rays’ Adrian Houser Trade

The Rays surprisingly added a pair of pitchers at the deadline, acquiring reliever Griffin Jax from the Twins for Taj Bradley, then landing RHP Adrian Houser from the White Sox for a package that included corner infielder Curtis Mead, RHP Duncan Davitt and RHP Ben Peoples.
The White Sox should have much more runway for the 24-year-old Mead, a one-time Top 100 Prospect who never solidified a role in Tampa Bay over parts of three big league seasons.
Davitt, 25, has logged 103.2 innings already in the upper minors, including four recent turns with Triple-A Durham.
He owns a 24.9% strikeout rate compared to a tidy 5% walk rate.
He works primarily off a fastball that sits in the low 90s but has touched 97 mph this year and a deep array of secondaries, which includes a two separate breaking balls, a changeup and an emerging cutter.
His arsenal and strike-throwing give him a chance to carve out a role at the very back of the White Sox rotation, an opportunity that wouldve been much tougher to carve out amid a crowded Rays depth chart.Peoples, 24, has pitched out Durhams bullpen this season, posting a 2.65 ERA and 39 strikeouts to 20 walks over 37.1 innings.
He relies primarily on his mid-90s fastball and upper-80s slider combination, although hell dabble with an upper-80s changeup as well.
