Another former Longhorn has reached a notable career milestone.

Former right-hander Jared Spencer, who the Toronto Blue Jays drafted in the 11th round of the MLB Draft, has signed his first MLB deal.

After an impressive run in Texas, he will shift his focus to the next chapter of his baseball career.During his time as a Longhorn, Spencer appeared in 10 games and posted a 3.27 ERA.

In 52.1 innings, he showcased his swing and miss stuff with 66 strikeouts.

While the Centreville High School product was limited due to injuries, he was highly productive when healthy, holding opponents to a .215 batting average.

With their 11thround pick (No.

322 overall), the @BlueJays select @TexasBaseball left-handed pitcher Jared Spencer, No.

His arsenal includes a fastball that tops out in the high nineties.

He also keeps batters off balance with a sweeping slider that can reach 91 miles per hour.

At the moment, the Blue Jays do not have many ranked prospects when it comes to lefties, which is partly why Toronto targeted him in the draft.

While a shoulder injury shut Spencer down back in April, it is not something the Blue Jays seem concerned about.

If they can get the Michigan native to reach his potential when healthy, the rotation will be in good hands.

Given that he is already 22, Spencer could be in the majors sooner rather than later.

That includes Kaleb Freeman, Gavin Fein, Max Belyeu, and Xavier Mitchell.

With a few prospects still waiting to see their first MLB deals, that list could grow.Although the Blue Jays will have to wait to see Spencer in action, they are excited for what his future holds.

During the 2025 campaign, Longhorns fans got to see just how good he can be.
