Sports in brief: Lowell to get FCBL team

The Futures Collegiate Baseball League, the league in which the Nashua Silver Knights play, plans to add a team in Lowell, Mass., next season, according to a news release from UMass Lowell.
The team will play at UMLs LeLacheur Park, the former home of the Lowell Spinners, a former Class A Short Season affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
The FCBL is now comprised of six teams throughout New England.
An official announcement is scheduled for Wednesday at the park.
-- Staff Report NBA Chris Paul returning to Clippers for 1 year Twelve-time All-Star Chris Paul is returning to the Los Angeles Clippers on a one-year deal for his 21st NBA season, multiple outlets reported Monday.
The deal is reportedly worth $3.6 million.
Paul, 40, joined Los Angeles leading up to the 2011-12 season, ultimately guiding the Clippers to at least 51 wins in five of his six seasons there.
As a franchise, Los Angeles has won 50 or more games just seven times.
An All- Star in five of his six seasons there, he ranks first in franchise history with 4,023 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Paul joins a Clippers team that signed Bradley Beal to a two-year deal and also added John Collins and Brook Lopez in free agency.
Field Level Media NFL Cowboys put Diggs, Overshown on PUP Cornerback Trevon Diggs and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown were among the players placed on the active/physically unable to perform list by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.
Both players are still recovering from knee surgeries, Overshown in December and Diggs in January.
Neither was expected to be ready for the start of the season and its unclear if Overshown will play at all in 2025.
Field Level Media MLB Royals call up ex-Bostonian Hill The Kansas City Royals are calling up Rich Hill from Triple-A Omaha for what will be the 45-year-old left-handers 21st season, multiple outlets reported Monday.
Hill, who grew up in Milton, Mass., will be the oldest active player in the major leagues and will also tie fellow pitcher Edwin Jacksons record by playing for his 14th team.
Hill most recently played for the Boston Red Sox last season.
He was 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in four relief appearances before being designated for assignment by his hometown team in September.
He has pitched for the Chicago Cubs (2005-08), Baltimore (2009), Red Sox (2010-12, 2015, 2022, 2024), Cleveland (2013), Los Angeles Angels (2014), New York Yankees (2014), Oakland (2016), Los Angeles Dodgers (2016-19), Minnesota (2020), Tampa Bay (2021), New York Mets (2021), Pittsburgh (2023) and San Diego (2023).
His career record is 90-74 with a 4.01 ERA, 543 walks and 1,428 strikeouts in 1,409 innings over 386 games.
The Royals entered Monday 12 games behind the first-place Detroit Tigers in the American League Central.
They visit the Cubs on Monday night for the start of a three-game series.
