Vancouver Canucks Officially Add New Goaltender in Latest Roster Move

The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they have officially signed prospect goaltender Alexei Medvedev to a 3-year, entry level contract, the newest goaltender in their system.

The Vancouver Canucks already have a crowded goaltending room, featuring starter Thatcher Demko and backup Kevin Lankinen, both of whom are now under contract for a combined 8 years.

The Canucks managed to re-sign Demko to a 3-year extension this summer, while they had also previously signed Lankinen to a 5-year deal after his surprisingly strong year in his 1st season with Vancouver in 2024-25.

Now, the Canucks have added another goaltender to their prospect pool, which already includes Arturs Silovs .

They've announced a 3-year entry level contract for Alexei Medvedev , who was taken with the 47th pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, and who is currently with the OHL's London Knights.

Canucks GM Patrik Allvin described Medvedev as an important addition with the potential for great things down the road in his professional career.

The Canucks are coming off a disappointing year in which they failed to return to the playoffs only a season after winning the Pacific Division and advancing to Game 7 of the WCSF.

Head coach Rick Tocchet departed for the Philadelphia Flyers , and assistant Adam Foote is now the official new bench boss.
