Second in a series previewing the Broncos 2025 roster in the weeks leading up to the start of training camp in late July.

Previous: Quarterbacks. On the roster (12): Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., Devaughn Vele, Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant, Trent Sherfield, A.T.

Perry, Michael Bandy, Jerjuan Newton, Joaquin Davis, Courtney Jackson and Kyrese White. How many on the 53? 5-7.Injuries or a real training camp surprise can always arise, but this looks like a pretty clean cut conversation regarding roster spots.

Sutton, Mims, Vele, Franklin and Bryant are essentially locks.

Sherfield got a two-year deal this spring to be a special teams ace, so hes in great position to make the roster, too, even if he sees only limited snaps at receiver. Most impactful offseason move: Drafting Pat Bryant in the third round.

And (so far) not giving Courtland Sutton a contract extension.Head coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton have said for a year that theyre more bullish on their relatively young group of receivers than most on the outside seem to be.

They saw positive signs from Vele and Franklin during their rookie seasons and Mims started to break out down the stretch.

That didnt stop them from drafting Bryant in the third round back in April, though.

Most thought the sturdy pass-catcher out of Illinois was a Day 3 pick, but Payton likened his skill set to former New Orleans standout Michael Thomas.

Payton has talked previously about Sutton being a Thomas-like presence, too.Biggest question to answer in camp: Is Sutton indeed part of the Broncos long-term plan?Perhaps a Sutton extension will get done this summer or during training camp, but its at least mildly interesting that nothing materialized over the winter or spring on that front.

Sutton told The Post in April he thought conversations were headed in a positive direction and he showed up to all of the Broncos voluntary work this spring.

Theres not any outward indication as of this writing that anything is amiss, but until Sutton actually gets a new deal, hes entering the final year of his contract and has no guaranteed money left.

Not only that, but the Broncos have a group of young receivers they like in Bryant, Vele, Franklin and Mims.If Sutton and the Broncos hit Week 1 in September without an extension agreed to, then the future gets murky for him again.Related ArticlesInside Caleb Lohners journey from hoops to Broncos: Were going to make you the next Jimmy GrahamBroncos Journal: Why are so many Utah Utes ending up in Denver? 1?Payton made this point during the offseason program.

The group of young receivers probably wont find themselves on the roster bubble, but not all of them can get 70 targets this season.

Will Mims continue his strong finishing push from 2024 and make it clear the ball has to be in his hands? Can Franklin do enough other things to show hes more than just a take-the-top-off threat behind Mims? And are Bryant and Vele different enough that they can both find sizable roles while fitting in alongside Sutton? With tight end Evan Engram and a bolstered stable of running backs to get the ball to, too, a couple of these guys could have big roles but somebodys going to be relegated to clean-up work.Under the radar player: Lets say White.Hes done nothing but impress through the offseason program after landing a spot on the 90-man roster as a tryout guy during rookie minicamp.

White runs crisp routes and is the kind of true, shifty slot guy that Denver doesnt have in its top receiver mix.

Hes got to do a better job fielding punts several hit the ground during the offseason program but Whites going to be in the mix for a practice squad spot...

at least.Want more Broncos news? Sign up for the Broncos Insider to get all our NFL analysis..
