Trayce Jackson-Davis says he’s lost ‘the ultimate teammate’ on the Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors $16 million decision may come back to haunt the team next season.
After a second-round exit in the 2025 NBA Playoffs , many expected to see the Golden State Warriors add a bunch of new names to the roster.
Instead, the Warriors are yet to make an addition to their roster ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.
In fact, they have parted ways with Kevon Looney following a 10-year stint.
Looney signed a two-year, $16 million deal to join the New Orleans Pelicans .
Speaking of which, Warriors Trayce Jackson-Davis had an interesting reaction to it.
Trayce Jackson-Davis drops tremendous praise on Kevon Looney In 10 seasons with the Dubs, Looney averaged 5.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game for the Warriors.
While his numbers didnt jump off the box score, Looney fulfilled the role of a locker room leader.
This is evident from what Jackson-Davis had to say about Loons departure.
We love Loon.
The way that he helped me was tremendous; who he is as a person, a player, the ultimate teammate, someone that you want to be around.
I have a lot that I can thank him for, Jackson-Davis said via 95.7 The Game on X .
Losing a player who held such respect in the locker room is a surprising decision.
As a result, the morale of other players on the roster could take a hit, and it could do harm to the Warriors championship ambitions.
Trayce Jackson-Davis on his restricted minutes on the Golden State Warriors A key reason behind Looneys exit was his limited minutes during the 2025 postseason.
The veteran center featured in just 10.0 minutes per game over 12 matchups.
Looney admitted to feeling frustrated due to head coach Steve Kerr preferring Quinten Post over him during the final year of his Warriors stint.
Coming to Jackson-Davis, the 25-year-old had something similar to say after seeing a dip in his minutes per game in the 2024-25 NBA season.
You gotta wait your turn.
It s____.
My rookie year I got more minutes than I did this year.
You want to make sure that you stay level-headed, but at the same time you know you can help.
Its hard, he stated.
