Hence the offer for Lawrence Woodmere Academy (N.Y.) center Caleb Ourigou this past weekend.
Ourigou is high school teammates with Class of 2027 point guard and fellow Illini target Anderson Diaz.
The two also play for NY Rens on the Nike circuit, with Diaz on the EYBL team (along with Class of 2026 Illinois target Jasiah Jervis out of Archbishop Stepinac) and Ourigou on the E16 team.
Ourigou is a four-star recruit in the Class of 2027, ranked No.
78 overall by 247Sports.
The 6-foot-10, 215-pound center has other offers from Seton Hall, UCLA, Syracuse, Fordham and St.
John's.
He's thrived playing for NY Rens and averaged 12.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks on Nike's E16 circuit.
