Lane Thomas hits 3-run homer, Cleveland's bullpen torments Tigers as Guardians win ALDS opener 7-0 CLEVELAND (AP) Lane Thomas hit a three-run homer in a five-run outburst before Detroit got an out, and the Cleveland Guardians unleashed their lights-out bullpen to complete a four-hitter in a 7-0 win over the Tigers in an AL Division Series opener.

Thomas shot on his first career postseason swing helped the Guardians cool off the Tigers, who stormed into the playoffs with a second-half surge before sweeping AL West champion Houston in the wild-card round.

Tanner Bibee pitched 4 2/3 innings and relievers combined for 4 1/3 hitless innings.

David Fry added a two-run double for Cleveland.

Game 2 is Monday.

(AP) The Vanderbilt Commodores have never beaten a No.

1 team in football.

A very fast start has put them in position to do just that.

They lead Alabama 23-14 at halftime after taking their biggest lead ever over a top-ranked team at 16 points.

Vanderbilt scored the first 13 points in a start that featured the Commodores' first opening drive for a TD against Alabama since 2007 in Nick Saban's second game coaching the Tide.

Alabama won that game 24-1O.

Only the Tide scoring late trimmed that to single digits.

Sedrick Alexander has run for two TDs for Vanderbilt.

Randon Fontenette also had a Pick-6 off Jalen Milroe.

31 with a bone spur in his left big toe.

He says he'll decide his future during the offseason.

(AP) The Green Bay Packers have suspended wide receiver Romeo Doubs from Sundays game with the Los Angeles Rams for what they described as conduct detrimental to the team.

Doubs hadnt practiced Thursday or Friday.

The Packers said at the time that he was dealing with a personal matter.

Doubs has 12 catches for 169 yards and no touchdowns through Green Bays first four games this season after he had 59 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns last year..
