General manager Adam Peters spent the 2025 offseason making roster adjustments to find the best combination of players to take the Washington Commanders to the next level.

He's not alone in this endeavor; every NFL GM has the same goal during the offseason.

Peters brought in some veteran support through free agency and trades, and added youthful talent in the draft. The problem is, no matter how much research a GM does, there's always at least one player who fails to live up to expectations.

Bleacher Report predicted the one player most likely to be a bust for every NFL team, and for the Commanders, their conclusion is unsurprising.Washington Commanders: DL Javon KinlawSimply put, the Washington Commanders probably overpaid to land defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw.

The 2020 first-round pick had a good year with the Jets in 2024, finishing with 40 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

However, Washington gave him high-end starter money. The Commanders were clearly eager to replace Jonathan Allen, who was released just before the start of free agency.

However, Kinlaw, who had just five tackles for loss and 12 QB pressures in 2024, is unlikely to play up to his $15 million-per-year contract.Peters caught some flak for this contract because the amount doesn't match the past production.

Kinlaw recorded 40 tackles (27 solo), 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 2024, which is his best stat line to date through five NFL seasons.

Kinlaw is listed as the starting right defensive tackle, but many believe he's unlikely to produce at the level he is being paid. However, Peters is banking on the former first-round pick to thrive under the tutelage of head coach Dan Quinn and Kinlaw's former position coach in San Francisco, Washington defensive line coach Darryl Tapp.
