One LSU Tiger Named Preseason First-Team All-American by Athlon originally appeared on Athlon Sports.Athlon released their College Football 2025 Preseason All-American Team on Tuesday, and the LSU Tigers had one player make the list.There were a ton of candidates on this Tiger roster.

Garrett Nussmeier is set to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country, Harold Perkins is coming back for his fourth year, they have weapons all across their offense, but it was Whit Weeks who earned the First-Team nod.LSU Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks 40 sacks quarterback Jaxson Dart SCOTT CLAUSEUSA TODAY Network USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Weeks had a breakout season in 2024 where he recorded 120 total tackles (61 solo), 3.5 sacks and one interception despite seeing limited snaps the first two weeks of the season.

He was one of the best linebackers in the country and was named to the All-SEC First-Team as a sophomore.With one more year before he can turn pro, Weeks looks to have a very similar junior campaign.

If all goes well, he should be in the running for the Butkus Award, given to the nation's best linebacker, and should find himself on the All-American First or Second-Team.

Weeks will lineup alongside Harold Perkins, who was not named to Athlon's First, Second or Third-Team, his brother West Weeks and Davhon Keys.
