Buxton was also announced on Sunday to be a reserve outfielder for the American League along with outfielders Steven Kwan and Julio Rodriguez.According to Sarah Langs, Buxton will become the first Twins player since Justin Morneau in 2008 to win the Derby."Going back home to do something like this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing," Buxton said.

"I know I'm not going to play 30 more years for it to get back to Atlanta," he added, also saying that his family and friends didn't want him to pass up on the opportunity either.Buxton mentioned that his sons were also excited, with his oldest son Brix hoping to bring him a towel if he ended up competing.Fans were very excited by the prospect of Buxton slugging alongside the game's best."Home run derby is going to be stacked this year," one fan wrote."Oh this is an elite lineup," another said.Buxton, Raleigh, Acuna and Nationals slugger James Wood are the first four confirmed participants.
