The Pittsburgh Steelers have completely re-tooled their offensive roster this offseason and that includes the running back depth chart.

Last season's leading rusher, Najee Harris, left for the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency, leaving a 1,000-yard hole in the roster.

With less than a month until the Steelers report for training camp and here's an early look at the running back depth chart.Jaylen WarrenWarren heads into 2025 training camp as the starter after Najee Harris signed with 511 rushing yards last season.

Not exactly encouraging for a team that is going to want to run the football a ton, but Warren showed up to offseason work in tremendous shape as he's not only playing for this season but also for a big contract in the offseason.Kaleb JohnsonThe Steelers drafted Johnson in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft and you can bet he's going to get every chance to split carries with Warren this season.

Johnson was the Iowa offense last season with 1,537 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns.Kenneth GainwellOne of the most underrated signings of the offseason for the Steelers was running back Kenneth Gainwell.

No one is going to ask Gainwell to be a full-time starter, but he's a true professional and has played well in the reserve role he's been asked to.

Cordarrelle PattersonWe don't understand why Patterson is still on the roster, but we hope the Steelers don't keep him instead of a player like Gainwell or Trey Sermon.

The longer he's on the roster, the more likely it is he will stick with the team for the 2025 season as a reserve and special-teams player.Trey SermonSermon is a career backup with only five career starts.

His only shot to make the final 53-man roster is if the team releases Patterson. This article originally appeared on Steelers Wire: Steelers 2025 training camp preview: Running back.
