He was a Heisman Trophy finalist with the Tennessee Volunteers in 1997, losing to two-way defensive back/receiver Charles Woodson of Michigan.

He was chosen number one overall in the 1998 NFL draft by the Colts, overcoming early struggles with interceptions to rattle off one of the most impressive careers for a quarterback in NFL history with 71,940 passing yards, 539 touchdowns, and 251 interceptions.

Manning's final season with the Broncos was a less-than-impressive one as he played in 10 games, compiling 2,249 yards while throwing for nine touchdowns against 17 interceptions.Manning is known for his field general style and vocal leadership skills at the line of scrimmage, as well as his sideline dust-ups with players including former Colts center Jeff Saturday, a symbol of his take-charge leadership style.
