Shane van Gisbergen sparks NASCAR debate after almost hitting camera operator

Shane van Gisbergen sparked debate after nearly hitting a NASCAR camera operator after winning Xfinity's The Loop 110 on the streets of Chicago.
The former Supercars champion has been NASCAR's most dominant driver on the Chicago street course since its 2023 debut.
The 36-year-old won NASCAR's inaugural Cup race at the street course , which also happened to be his debut in the series.
The following year, SVG won the Xfinity race, and he defended his title this year with victory in The Loop 110 before putting himself on pole position for Sunday's Cup race.

However, a CW Network camera operator was a little too close for comfort and came close to connecting with SVG's rear through the smoke.

"That's why you don't want STUPID ASS cameramen on the track.
Blame it on the production, not on the drivers," one viewer said.
"Cameraman s--- himself on that one," another tweeted.
"He almost murked that cameraman," a third reacted.
"The camera was shaking for a moment," a fourth said.

"I'm a lucky boy.
I got some great cars today," said the three-time Australian Supercars champion.
"Xfinity pole, Cup pole, pretty special.
Hopeful for the race tomorrow.
Practice wasn't that great, and I went out in qualifying, and the car felt really good ...
I learned a lot in the Xfinity car this morning, and that just gives you a great leg up for the Cup car." In the Xfinity race, Van Gisbergen got the better of his young JR Motorsports teammate Connor Zilisch.
"The strategy went wrong, but it worked out well," said Van Gisbergen.

(Zilisch) is a great young driver, and that was the first time I've really raced him.
I knew that was my opportunity, and I took it.
Awesome 1-2 for the team." I was clear there, just barely, on the front straight, and I just let him get to my inside, and he took advantage of it, said Zilisch, who started 35th.
I should have been a little more aggressive there.
I just thought he was going to race me a little cleaner.
Ive just got to be better and not let that stuff happen.
Ill learn from it and move on..
