Bold Trade Idea Sends Emmanuel Clase to Dodgers originally appeared on Athlon Sports.Emmanuel Clase has been at the top level among elite closers, throwing to a spectacular 0.61 ERA just last season at the pinnacle of his six-year MLB career.

Very few relievers have attained such a high degree of success as Clase, who owns a career 1.84 ERA.

Under club control through 2028, the Guardians star closer has been touted by analysts as a premier trade chip.

Pitching to a 3.38 ERA this season, Clase is certainly not at his best, though he has done a lot better since late May.

It would be fair to assume that the Cleveland Guardians wouldnt sell low on a stellar hurler like Clase, especially with years of control, having signed an extension; still, their meager offense has been carried only by their excellent pitching staff.

This might mean the Guardians will be willing to part with him if it brings them one or two good bats.

In a recent article from SB Nation, Tommy Pecoraro suggested a bold trade that would boost the Guardians batting order by sending Clase to the Los Angeles Dodgers at a steep price.

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Emmanuel Clase (48) reacts after defeating the Athletics at Sutter Health Park.Dennis Lee-Imagn ImagesBy far the best option I will talk about in this article is Andy Pages of the Dodgers, Pecoraro wrote.

The [24-year-old right-handed hitter] has a .842 OPS while playing elite defense in CF.

The fit is absolutely perfect.

The Dodgers might not be motivated to move him, however, they have Tommy Edman locked up until 2029 and he has played a fair amount of CF for them both this season and last season.

Andy Pages for Emmanuel Clase would be an interesting swap; however, Pages recently became an integral part of the Dodgers lineup.

With Michael Conforto slumping, the Dodgers might need Pages to form an outfield of him, Tommy Edman, and Teoscar Hernandez, effectively replacing Conforto.

This would also allow them to give Hyeseong Kim an everyday spot at second base, where he has won three of four KBO Golden Gloves.

Pages is slashing .293/.329/.507 with 16 home runs and has been a plus defender in all outfield positions.

Given his success this year, his many years of control, and the fact that Clase hasnt exactly been untouchable, its highly unlikely Pages leaves Los Angeles for Clase.
