Longtime Colorado Eagles coach, player Aaron Schneekloth leaves for NHL job

Aaron Schneekloth is leaving the Colorado Eagles after almost two decades with the organization.

Schneekloth is departing for his first coaching spot in the NHL as he's been named an assistant for the Seattle Kraken.

The Kraken announced his hire June 17.Schneekloth spent 19 seasons with the Eagles as a player and coach.

Schneekloth recently completed his second season as head coach of the Eagles in the AHL as the top minor league affiliate for the Colorado Avalanche.

He was also the head coach for a period when the Eagles were in the ECHL and led the team to back-to-back Kelly Cup titles (2017 and 2018).His overall coaching record is 178-84-26.

The 46-year-old Schneekloth was a defenseman for the Eagles for seven seasons (he played 11 total seasons as a pro) and helped the team win a CHL title in 2007.

He was the ECHL's top defenseman in 2012 and the CHL's top defenseman in 2009 and 2010.
