The Minnesota Vikings have been relatively drama-free over the course of the offseason.

Well, as long as you don't count the Aaron Rodgers discussion that was driven by the national media.

Last offseason in between mandatory minicamp and training camp, wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested and charged with two counts of driving under the influence just outside of LAX International Airport.

Nearly a year later, things have not been finalized.

Initially, it was believed that a jury trial was set to take place on Monday, June 16th.

That ended up being incorrect, as it was a jury trial setting conference.

That conference was held and a date has officially been set for Tuesday, July 15th.

That will be a week before the Vikings report for training camp.

It's important for a couple of reasons for this to get wrapped up.

First, it's always a good thing to get this off the mind of the player for many reasons.

Focusing on playing football is what Addison wants to be doing.

The second is a potential suspension for Addison.

The way the personal conduct policy is structured makes it so a player doesn't get suspended until the legal process is finished.

That will mean once a jury trial has been completed.

A suspension is key for multiple reasons.

First, a verdict of not guilty doesn't mean that Addison won't be suspended.

Whatever suspension he gets will come based on the investigation of the NFL.

What they find in said investigation will the thing that matters.

The precedent is that Addison will likely get a three-game suspension, as others with similar charges have gotten that amount.

We are closer to getting an answer, but still a lot can happen, including a potential settlement.

There hasn't been any reported willingness to settle, but it's always possible until a jury renders a verdict.
