Longhorns women's basketball adds guard from Ireland

In their search for backcourt reinforcements, Texas women's basketball has gone international.

The Longhorns announced on Monday that they had signed guard Grace Prenter.

The Dublin native has played with the Irish National Senior Team.

During the 2024 FIBA U18 Womens EuroBasket Division B competition, Prenter was a scoring machine.

The newest Longhorn averaged 16.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

That was not the only time that Prenter shined on the national stage.

She averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game at the 2024 FIBA U20 Womens EuroBasket Division B event.One thing that has stood out about Prenter is her ability to make an impact regardless of the opponent.

" She's very competitive and, from that standpoint, fits in well with our current team and roster.

She comes from a wonderful family and we appreciate their trust and confidence in allowing their daughter to come across the pond to play for this staff with this team.

She will be a great teammate and bring a competitive spirit to our team."Prenter is joining a roster that looks very different than a year ago.

The new faces will include five-star recruit Aaliyah Crump.

They will be joined by transfers Breya Cunningham, Ashton Judd, Teya Sidberry, and Lovisa Brink Hose.

That group hopes to bring a championship to Texas.

Last season, the Longhorns season ended with a loss in the final four.

With a deeper roster and Prenter in the mix, Texas is in a good position to advance further in the NCAA tournament next year.
