Tennessee Football Makes Coaching Decision on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.The Tennessee Volunteers have been inching toward national title contention for the past several seasons, led by head coach Josh Heupel.

Tennessee made their way to the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff last season, suffering a loss to the eventual national champion Ohio State Buckeyes.

As the Volunteers look to bounce back, they have added several contributors to the roster as well as made changes to the coaching staff.

On Monday, Heupel and the Volunteers added Marion Hobby to their defensive staff, bringing in an established staff member with extensive NFL and college football experience, per Matt Zenitz.

Tennessee is adding Marion Hobby to its defensive staff, a source tells @CBSSports.Hobby, a former All-SEC player at Tennessee, has coached in four NFL conference championship games (Saints, Jaguars, Bengals 2x) and a Super Bowl.

Hobby played a significant role in Cincinnati from 2021 to 2024.

He also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars throughout the past several seasons, all of which have come with the same defensive line coach role.

He served as the co-defensive coordinator and defensive ends coach at Clemson, working under one of the best head coaches in college football, Dabo Swinney.

The Tennessee alum, headed back to the program he once played for, also previously served on the staff of the Volunteers.

In 1998, just one season at Tennessee, Hobby served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.

He is now heading back to Tennessee, looking to help the Volunteers reach the mountaintop with Josh Heupel.
