After an awful walk-off loss in the bottom of the ninth inning of last nights game, the Yankees look to defeat the Rangers in tonights rubber match.

The Bombers need a Wednesday win to avoid their third consecutive series loss.

The Orioles capitalized on their win against the White Sox and the Yankees defeat yesterday to regain the lead of the AL East by half a game.

Tonights pitching matchup between the Yankees starting pitcher, Marcus Stroman, and the Rangers Nathan Eovaldi, a former Yankee, should be a good one.

Stroman is coming off his strong start against the Cardinals last weekend.

During that game, he pitched seven innings, the longest he had pitched in a game since May, and allowed only two earned runs.

Hopefully, Stroman can have a solid six innings like Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon had over the last two games.

Both Cole and Rodon only gave up one run in their outings.

Eovaldi, who is in his 13th MLB season, comes into tonights game with a 10-7 record and a 3.60 ERA.

It has been less than a month since the Yankees faced Eovaldi when the Rangers were in New York in August, and New York knocked him out of that game early.

He gave up three runs and six hits in three innings.

However, that start was a blip on his record since, over the last two months, Eovaldi has gone deep into games.

In six of his last 11 starts, Eovaldi pitched seven full innings, giving the Rangers bullpen a bit of relief.

I think most Yankees fans are happy to see first baseman Anthony Rizzo back in the lineup tonight instead of DJ LeMahieu, who manned first base last night while Rizzo got a night off.

Jose Trevino will be behind the plate tonight in favor of Austin Wells, who is recovering from being hit in the hand by a fastball in Mondays game.

Jazz Chisholm Jr.

will bat cleanup tonight.

Hes been on a hot streak as of late, posting a 1.005 OPS since returning from the IL on August 23rd and going 2-for-4 in each of the last two games.
