Avalanche, Lightning Among Teams Looking to Land 6-Time All-Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the NHL offseason continues, one of the more interesting names on the open market is veteran Jonathan Toews.
Toews is looking to make a comeback to the NHL, and there are already multiple teams being linked to him.Toews has not played since the 2022-23 season, but he still believes that he can be productive.
Any team interested in Toews would be getting a proven winner and someone who can bring a lot to a locker room.During an appearance on the 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman named a few teams who are expected to be in on Toews."Jonathan Toews, sounds like it's a couple of teams here," Friedman said.
"I think Winnipeg is in there.
Think Colorado's in there...
One of the other teams I suspect on Toews - Lightning."Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel (9) wins a face off against Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (19) during the third period at T-Mobile Arena.
Stephen R Sylvanie-Imagn Images Any of the three teams mentioned could be a solid landing spot for Toews, especially considering they all made the postseason this past year.
Toews may want to play for a title contender and bring whatever he can to a team.Toews scored 15 goals and 16 assists over 53 games in his last appearance in the NHL.
The veteran likely won't be asked to do too much for any team that he signs with, so any situation could work for him.Over 15 seasons in the league, Toews has recorded 372 goals, 883 points, and a plus-148 rating.
His NHL comeback attempt seems to be going well, and he has plenty of teams interested in his services.Related: Corey Perry Reveals More Details on Speech That Saved OilersRelated: Devils Predicted to Land All-Star to Massively Improve RosterThis story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 13, 2025, where it first appeared..
