Alex Cora Reveals Concerning Idea for Red Sox's Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer
Alex Cora Reveals Concerning Idea for Red Sox's Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As stated many times, if the Boston Red Sox want to be the team they aspire to be over the next decade, it'll have to be because of players like Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer.
Mayer and Anthony are two of the top prospects in Major League Baseball, with many considering Anthony the best in the game. However, just like every other player who makes their debut, it isn't an easy task to ask a player to come up and swing the bat at the highest level when they're as young as somebody like Anthony. There will be growing pains, and that's fine, as long as the Red Sox fully go into a youth movement and allow them to struggle. However, according to reports, skipper Alex Cora doesn't expect to play Anthony or Mayer against left-handed pitchers.

For Mayer and Anthony, that has to come at the expense of getting at-bats in the big leagues.
Even if they go 0-30, it's better than them sitting on the bench.Related: Jarren Duran Gets Bad News on Red Sox Trade Deadline PlansThis story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 12, 2025, where it first appeared..
