Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce shared his feelings Wednesday regarding teammate Rashee Rice suffering a potentially serious knee injury during the team's Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Speaking on his New Heights podcast (beginning at the 42:22 mark) , Kelce said the following about Rice getting injured after such a spectacular start to the season: "It's not gonna get any easier with seeing Rashee go down during the game.

I just love the way that guy was playing the game of football, how he was attacking every single day in practice.

Sometimes you just root so hard for the guys that do it the right way, and Rashee had been doing that, man.

It was a huge dagger to me when I saw him go down, man." During the first quarter of the Chiefs' 17-10 win over the Chargers on Sunday, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was intercepted by Kristian Fulton.

Rice hustled to chase Fulton down from behind and force a fumble, but amid the chaos, Mahomes fell awkwardly into Rice's legs, and the receiver instantly clutched his knee.

Chiefs medical personnel checked Rice out on the sidelines before he was carted back to the locker room and ruled out almost immediately for the remainder of the game.

After the game, ESPN's Adam Schefter (h/t ESPN's Adam Teicher ) reported that the Chiefs feared Rice had suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

That has yet to be confirmed, though, and Schefter (h/t Teicher ) followed up with another report Monday, noting that the extent of the injury remains unclear, as more tests are required.

Regardless, it sounds as though Rice could be in line to miss significant time, which is a huge blow to the Kansas City offense.

Over the first three games of the season, Rice was among the most productive wide receivers in football, registering 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

Rice's injury looms even larger due to the fact that wide receiver Hollywood Brown is also out with an injury that is expected to keep him out for the entirety of the season.

That leaves Mahomes with rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Watson and Skyy Moore as his top wideouts.

All of them will have to step up for as long as Rice is out, but Mahomes is likely to lean most heavily on Kelce, who finally had a breakout game Sunday with seven receptions for 89 yards after a slow start to the season.

Kelce is a future Hall of Famer and one of the greatest tight ends of all time, and he showed in last season's playoffs with 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns in four games that he still has what it takes to be the centerpiece of an offense when needed..
