Ohio State hopes it landed an important piece of its 2025-26 mens basketball roster in European wing Mathieu Grujicic.

A 6-foot-5 guard/wing who turns 18 in July, Grujicic is expected to join the Buckeyes sometime this summer and enroll as a freshman with four years of eligibility.When he does arrive, he comes with the level of mystery typical of international players.

Grujicic doesnt have years of AAU highlights to peruse or any sort of recruiting ranking to help evaluate his game.It means he will arrive at Ohio State with perhaps as much intrigue as anybody on the 2025-26 roster, an enigma for fans who arent intimately familiar with the youth levels of European basketball.

As he prepares to join the Buckeyes and acclimate to Division I mens basketball, heres what weve learned about Grujicic since his commitment.Hes won four MVP trophies in the last yearGrujicic has been playing for FC Barcelonas U18 team while also spending time with Germanys youth national programs.

Along the way, hes picked up multiple most valuable player awards for club, country and himself.In May, Grujicic was named the most valuable player while playing for FC Barcelona in the Spanish U18 national championships.In February, he was named the most valuable player while participating in the NBAs Basketball Without Borders Global Camp held during all-star weekend.

It was here, in San Francisco, that the Ohio State coaching staff first spotted and identified Grujicic as a prospect.In January, he was named the Adidas NextGen Euroleague Ulm tournament's most valuable player while helping FC Barcelona win the championship.

Along with Grujicic, the roster featured both Kasparas Jakucionis and Dame Sarr.Jakucionis was named third-team All-Big Ten and to the leagues all-freshman team for the 2024-25 season after averaging 15.0 points, 4.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds as a one-and-done player for the Fighting Illini.Sarr, a five-star shooting guard according to the 247Sports.com rankings, is committed to Duke as a freshman for the 2025-26 season.He speaks multiple languagesAccording to GermanHoops.com, Grujicic was born in France to a father from Serbia and a mother from Germany.
