JONESVILLE District Saturday did not turn out to be as successful of a day as Friday did for Hillsdale County baseball and softball teams.

Still, a couple teams did make district title game appearances for their squads this season, including the Jonesville baseball team.More: Seniors lead standout efforts in Reading baseball and softball district title victoriesThe Comets defeated Michigan Center 12-0 to reach the District 82 championship game at Lumen Christi High School.

Senior Drew Bradley picked up the win on the mound, pitching six innings with six strikeouts, nearly pitching a perfect game with just one hit given up.

Plenty of Comet batters helped make the scoring rally in the fifth and sixth a reality.

Talon Titus had three hits and three RBIs.

Marshall Baker and Harper Griffiths both went for one hit, two RBIs and one run.

Senior Ethan Hammer scored three runs.

Carsen Cornila and Devan Herendeen each had two runs.

Jonesville advanced to the first district title under new coach Brian Stroble.

The Comets would go up against the same No.

3 overall team from Lumen Christi that took down the Hornets just a few days earlier.

It was destiny for Lumen Christi to win on Saturday, earning a 10-0 final score to earn their first of two district title trophies at their home athletic facilities on the very same day.

For the Comets, it was the end to an impressive 21-11 season that followed up back-to-back district title seasons and an appearance in the regional finals last year.

Herendeen would earn the loss on the mound for the Comets.

The junior had seven strikeouts over six innings, giving up seven earned runs, a small speed bump in an otherwise perfect comeback season for the junior.

The season would not have been possible without the leadership of seniors Drew Bradley and Ethan Hammer.

On the mound, he made multiple appearances, earning two wins and 25 strikeouts on the season.

"Those guys were obviously the epidemy of a coach's dream," coach Brian Stroble said.

"Four-year varsity players, they'd do anything you ask them to do.

They'll eat and die baseball, so it's really nice to have those two guys around.

It's almost like an extension of me on the field, so it's easy.

Anyone could do my job this year with those two guys around."Jonesville Baseball Stat LeadersThe other major stat leader this season was junior Devan Herendeen.
