The Toronto Blue Jays are 5 1/2 games back of the New York Yankees in the American League East.

They could make some moves at the trade deadline to help close the gap and make a postseason push.

The Blue Jays have hit the 10th-fewest home runs in baseball this season.

That should be a shock considering they have Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and signed Anthony Santander.

However, Bichette is just now starting to find his power swing again, and Santander has struggled greatly.

The Blue Jays are still postseason contenders, but FanSided's Matthew Sookram suggested the team trade for Taylor Ward of the Los Angeles Angels to add some power to their lineup.

"If the Blue Jays go out to the market now, they may have to pay a premium price, but it could be worth it to bring in someone like Taylor Ward," wrote Sookram.

"Ward has been for the Angels, exactly what the Blue Jays were hoping Santander would be for Toronto, with 16 home runs which are tied for fourth in the league.

He doesnt hit the ball very often with a .220 batting average and .272 on-base percentage, but when he does, they go a long way." Obviously, adding a player who can hit for power and average would be ideal.

However, those players are not always available at the trade deadline.

The Angels could become sellers by the time the trade deadline rolls around, and Ward could be on the move.

Spotrac projects him to sign a three-year, $43 million deal on the open market, but the Angels could flip him to the Blue Jays for a prospect before that time comes.

Ward has hit 78 home runs in the last four seasons and could be a great addition for the Blue Jays.

He also has some defensive versatility, so the team could easily find ways to get him in the lineup.
