Trust in the Trenches: NFC East offensive line rankings for 2025

The offensive line is the area every team in the NFC East has invested significant assets in.
The Philadelphia Eagles have three of the top 10 highest-paid offensive linemen in the NFL, each malking at least $20 million a season.
Andrew Thomas is the third-highest-paid lineman in the league, and the New York Giants drafted him and Evan Neal in the first round; John Michael-Schmitz was a second-round selection.
The Washington Commanders traded for former first-round pick Laremy Tunsil, signed Tyler Biadasz the year prior, and used a first-round pick on Josh Conerly Jr.
The Dallas Cowboys have used three of their past four first-round picks on offensive linemen and a third-round selection on Cooper Beebe. The offensive line has been a key factor in the Eagles' success over the last eight years.
The Giants have invested a substantial amount of draft capital in their offensive line, with mixed results.
The Commander's unit in 2024 wasn't the "Hogs" of their winning days, but they had improved significantly before Tunsil and Conerly Jr.
were brought in to help further.
Dallas is trying to rebuild after losing future Hall of Fame players Zack Martin and Tyron Smith.
Has any team closed the gap on Philadelphia in the NFC East, or will they continue to dominate the rankings?4.
New York GiantsNew York nailed the left tackle pick with Thomas.
He is a stud lineman who had Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades of 89.1 overall, 88.8 pass blocking, and 80 run blocking in his last healthy season in 2022.
He played only 16 games over the previous two seasons, but when he is on the field, he is one of the best in the league.
The rest of the line is average at best.
The team was 22nd in sacks allowed, 23rd in rushing yards, 17th in yards per carry, and 21st in rushing touchdowns.Rookie Marcus Mbow and former first-round pick Evan Neal are keys in 2025.
Mbow had a higher pass-blocking grade in college than anyone but Thomas, and a run-blocking grade higher than anyone but Neal.
Neal has been a disappointment for the Giants, but in over 450 snaps last season, he was their best run blocker by a large margin.3.
Dallas CowboysThe Dallas offensive line was underwhelming and negatively impacted the offense throughout the season.
Their opponents outrushed Dallas by 600 yards and had 25 rushing touchdowns to six for the Cowboys.
Dallas was last in rushing touchdowns and plays of 20 or 40 yards or more.
They were 30th in yards per attempt and 27th in sacks allowed.Dallas has a solid interior with All-Pro Tyler Smith, first-round pick Tyler Booker, and second-year center Cooper Beebe.
T.J.
Bass and Brock Hoffman played 830 interior snaps last year and had just seven penalties and two sacks allowed combined.
The Cowboys' issues are at the tackle spot, possibly the worst duo in the NFL.
Terence Steele allowed seven penalties and nine sacks, with a pass blocking grade of 57.5.
Tyler Guyton had a slightly better pass-blocking grade of 60.2, but his overall grade wasn't even 50.
He played 668 snaps, allowed six sacks, and was called for 18 penalties.New offensive coaches, Klayton Adams and Conor Riley, have done excellent work in the past, and they could do wonders with the talent on the team.
However, Dallas has a young line, and what they have shown at offensive tackle hasn't been league average, let alone high quality.
2.
Washington CommandersWashington had an excellent season statistically, third in rushing yards and runs of 20 yards or more, fourth in yards per attempt and rushing touchdowns, and fifth in runs of 40 yards or more.
None of their blockers had a run-blocking grade over 70, and only right guard Sam Cosmi had a pass-blocking grade over 70.
The team had to improve the talent on that unit, so they traded multiple picks for a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle and drafted another tackle in the first round.Tunsil had a higher PFF grade than any other lineman on the team in every category.
His pass-blocking grade was 88.6, the second-best in the division behind Mailata.
He is a significant upgrade for the Washington team.
Conerly Jr.
is a 6-foot-4, 315-pound athletic freak with excellent length.
He is at his best in a zone blocking run scheme, but his most significant strength lies in his pass protection.
He had a PFF pass-blocking grade of over 83 and a true pass set pass-blocking grade of 78.1 at Oregon.
These two additions could solidify their tackle spots, with Sam Cosmi and Biadasz locking down four quality starters on their offensive line.1.
Philadelphia EaglesThe Eagles might have had the best offensive line in the NFL last season, and four of those five players are returning in 2025.
Mailata is possibly the best left tackle in the NFL, with PFF grades all over 91 and allowed a single sack in over 800 snaps.
The tackle on the other side of him, Lane Johnson, had PFF grades all over 80, and he didn't give up a single sack on the season.
The interior isn't as strong as the tackles.
Landon Dickerson's overall and run-blocking grades are just under 80, but he did give up five sacks and was called for eight penalties.
Cam Jurgens was extended this offseason, but he is a league-average center.
He had no PFF grade over 70, and his pass-blocking grade was 56.5.The right guard was a question mark last season, but Mekhi Becton, a former first-round pick, broke out for them and moved on.
Philadelphia is trying to replicate that move with Kenyon Green.
If not Green, Tyler Steen could be the guy, but he has been poor when asked to play.
The Eagles were second in total rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and runs for 20 yards or more.
They were first in runs of 40 yards or more and fifth in yards per attempt.
Their offensive line is the primary reason they are Super Bowl champions, and even though the interior might not be as strong as it was last season, it will still be the team's biggest strength. You can find Mike Crum on Twitter @cdpiglet or Bluesky @mike-crum-cdpiglet.bsky.socialThis article originally appeared on Cowboys Wire: Ranking the offensive line units in the NFC EAST.
