Former two-weight UFC champion ends retirement with title fight in mind

Arguably the greatest female UFC fighter of all time has confirmed that she will return to the octagon, with Amanda Nunes announcing that she is no longer retired.

The Brazilian is looking to face the winner of Kayla Harrison against current UFC bantamweight champion Julianna Pena , which is set to take place on Saturday at UFC 316 .

Nunes has already faced Pena twice, suffering a shock loss to her when losing her title before reclaiming it in a win over her a few months later.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT However, Harrison is the strong favorite to defeat Pena on Saturday, while dominating the sport since making the move from Olympic gold medalist judoka to MMA fighter.

Nunes said: "I'm ready to stay here.

I'm going to take the belt back.

I'm going to defend as long as possible.

As long as my body can handle, I'm going to be here." She added: "I love this.

I'm so excited.

To see my name all over, that's what I'm here for.

To come back, I'm ready for tomorrow.

I'm ready to fight.

I have Kayla by decision.

Honestly, I'm a champion.

Either one, I'm going to be ready for.

Let's go." While also calling out Harrioson, Nunes had strong words for her former opponent in Pena, who believes she was given a bad decision in her loss last time out.
