Chase Petty gets 10th win of year: Local minor leaguers update

Here is a look at how local minor leaguers are performing this season.

Stats through Thursday; not including those who previously went on the injured list and remain out: Triple-A RHP Brett Kennedy (Atlantic City), 30, is pitching for the Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds).

On July 1, he was moved from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL.

He has been on the IL since June 15 with an undisclosed injury, his last appearance coming June 13.

Through 10 starts in Triple-A, he was 1-6 with a 7.74 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 43 innings.

Through 152 minor league games (132 starts), Kennedy was 40-44 with a 4.34 ERA and 621 strikeouts in 655 1/3 innings.

Kennedy has made 11 career major league appearances (eight starts), going 2-2 with a 6.65 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings.

IF Buddy Kennedy (Millville), 25, who was recalled by the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, was playing for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

In 102 games with the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers) and IronPigs, he was hitting .272 (102 for 375) with 31 doubles, one triple, 13 homers, 657runs and 46 RBIs.

Kennedy made his major league debut June 17, 2022, with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In 46 career games, including six this season with the Tigers, he has batted .205 with two homers and 17 RBIs.

In 600 minor league games, Kennedy was hitting .283 with 124 doubles, 27 triples, 58 homers and 297 RBIs.

He was chosen in the fifth round of the 2017 draft by Arizona.

Double-A RHP Sean Mooney (Ocean City), 26, was assigned to the Wichita Wind Surge (Minnesota Twins) and placed on the 60-day injured list to start the season.

He had right rotator cuff surgery in the offseason and could return later this year.

In 40 career games (27 starts), he is 2-6 with a 3.18 ERA and 166 strikeouts in 110 1/3 innings.

He was selected in the 12th round of the 2019 draft.

RHP Chase Petty (Mainland Regional), 21, is pitching for the Chattanooga Lookouts (Cincinnati Reds).

Through 25 starts, he was 10-4 with a 4.43 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 120 innings.

In his outing last Sunday, he allowed just one hit and two walks and struck out eight in seven shutout innings to get the win.

Augustine Prep), 24, is playing for the Everett AquaSox (Seattle Mariners).

In 107 games, he was hitting .248 (102 for 411) with 21 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 59 RBIs and 75 runs.

He had stolen 21 bases on 26 attempts.

In 229 career games, he was hitting .259 with 41 doubles, six triples, 28 homers, 130 RBIs and 41 stolen bases.

Hood, from Vineland, was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 draft.

LHP Noah Dean (Pinelands Regional), 23, is pitching for the Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox).

Through 21 games (15 starts) in Single-A and High-A, he was 2-4 with a 4.68 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 77 innings.

Rookie League RHP David Hagaman (Holy Spirit), 21, who signed with the Texas Rangers in July after being selected in the fourth round of the MLB Draft, is listed as injured and is out for the remainder of the season.

Hagaman missed the second half of the spring season with West Virginia University after having surgery on his throwing elbow.

He was assigned to the ACL Rangers of the Arizona Complex League.

The ACL season ended July 25.

3B Tony Santa Maria (ACIT), 22, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 19th round of the draft out of Rutgers, signed with the ball club July 22.

He was assigned to the FCL Rays of the Florida Complex League on Monday.

The FCL season ended July 25.

Independent leagues LHP Dan Nunan (Ocean City), 24, is playing for the Rocky Mountain Vibes of the Pioneer League.

In 20 games (11 starts), he was 3-3 with a 8.16 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings .

Nunan was selected in the 12th round of the 2018 draft by the Los Angeles Angels, who released him in 2022 .

RHP Joe Joe Rodriguez (Vineland), 24, is pitching for the New Jersey Jackals of the Frontier League.

In 53 appearances between New Jersey and the Lexington Legends of the Atlantic League, he was 0-3 with a 7.34 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 61 1/3 innings .

Rodriguez spent parts of two seasons in the New York Mets system until he was released prior to this season .
