The Timberwolves are on the brink of elimination after falling 3-1 against the No.

1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

If the Timberwolves are sent home, they could likely be headed for another aggressive offseason to capitalize on their window, with Anthony Edwards leading the charge.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report believes that the Timberwolves can pair Anthony Edwards with another more explosive young superstar, such as New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson.

"If the Wolves can't get past the Oklahoma City Thunder and need to raise their offensive ceiling, Williamson and Edwards together would be an unstoppable scoring combo when healthy," Swartz said.

While it may be farfetched for the Timberwolves to make a move of that caliber, it's not totally out of the question.

The Timberwolves have several stars who are entering free agency, notably Julius Randle, whom the Timberwolves tried to acquire last offseason.

The Timberwolves could be looking at a roster overhaul if they are eliminated in the conference finals for the second year in the row.

Williamson, a former No.

1 overall pick, has struggled throughout his career, with injuries limiting his potential.

Last season, he appeared in only 30 games; however, when healthy, he remains one of the most dominant forces in the league.

The New Orleans Pelicans appear committed to keeping Williamson under the new head of basketball operations, Joe Dumars, having publicly expressed their interest in retaining the young superstar.

However, a pairing of Edwards and Williamson would instantly raise the Timberwolves' offensive ceiling and keep them in title contention..
