MURRAY The greatest player in Murray State womens basketball history will begin her professional career Down Under.

The Australian team the Knox Raiders said last week that it has signed the future Racer Hall of Famer to a contract.

The Knox Raiders are thrilled to announce the signing of standout U.S.

forward Katelyn Young for the upcoming NBL1 South Womens season, the team announced on its Facebook site.

A dominant presence in American college basketball, Young brings an elite resume to Knox following an extraordinary career at Murray State University, where she cemented her legacy as one of the most accomplished players in program history.

Indeed, Young set a high standard in five seasons in Murray, capping her Racer career with a Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championship and the programs first NCAA Tournament berth since 2008.

She was a five-time all-conference first-team selection in two separate leagues the Ohio Valley Conference, where she was its Player of the Year in 2022, and The Valley, as it is known, after the Racers entered that league in 2022-23 At the end of what became her fourth-year senior season, Young became not only the all-time scoring leader in Murray State womens basketball, she also joined mens legend Popeye Jones in being the only Murray State players to score more than 2,000 points and grab more than 1,000 rebounds in four years.

However, what she really wanted was a championship and she got it on her fifth try, leading the Racers to a 25-8 record.

She also finished as the No.

14 all-time leading scorer in the history of NCAA womens basketball at 3,029 points, ahead of former Tennessee star Chamique Holdsclaw and behind former Connecticut star Maya Moore.

The Raiders have already started their season, which will end during the summer.

Ironically, the teams colors are navy blue and gold, the same scheme as Murray State..
