Orioles roster moves: Ryan Mountcastle sidelined, Coby Mayo recalled

The injuries keep piling up for the Orioles.
This one might open up some playing time for one of their top prospects.Baltimore placed first baseman Ryan Mountcastle on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain Saturday and recalled infield prospect Coby Mayo from Triple-A Norfolk.
The club also reshuffled its bench by selecting outfielder Jordyn Adams contract and designating catcher Chadwick Tromp for assignment.MRI this morning, dont know the severity just yet, interim manager Tony Mansolino said of Mountcastle.
Well go from there.
Obviously, we put him on the IL and brought up Coby.
Optimistic hopeful is probably the better word.
Just hopeful that its not too bad but well probably find out more later today or tomorrow.Mountcastle, 28, left the Orioles 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday one inning after helping orchestrate a double steal, taking home after Ryan OHearn baited a throw to second base with a fake attempt.
It proved to be the winning run but came at the cost of their starting first baseman, whos hit .246 with two home runs and a .628 OPS in 52 games this season. Its the second time Mayo, 23, has been recalled this year and the fourth time of his career.
A consensus top-30 prospect in baseball, Mayo has gone 5-for-53 (.098) with 28 strikeouts and five walks in his limited opportunities.
He said he expects to see more time at first base this time around; infielder Jordan Westburg (hamstring) is on a rehabilitation assignment and expected to return in the next few days. No, not really, Mayo said when asked if he prefers either of his primary positions, first and third base, over the other.
I think both positions Ive played pretty equally the last year or so.
I know that its kind of a wherever-they-need-me kind of thing.
Before, obviously, [third baseman Ramon Urias] went down and Westy and now, obviously, Mounty but, Im here to do what I can and help the team out.Adams gives the Orioles bench another option at center field after they placed Cedric Mullins on the IL earlier this week.
The 25-year-old spent spring training with the team after appearing in 28 games for the Los Angeles Angels the past two years and he hit .212 with three home runs and five stolen bases before getting the call to Baltimore.
Tromp, 30, went 0-for-4 in two games for the Orioles as the clubs third catcher while Adley Rutschman dealt with a minor head injury. This article will be updated.
