Texas women's basketball: Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda finds a new home in transfer portal
Former Texas women's basketball guard Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda has reportedly found a new home.In April, the rising senior shocked some when she entered her name in the transfer portal after playing a big role for the Longhorns in their 2025 Final Four run.
According to On3.com, Mwenentanda will play at Vanderbilt.The news comes a day after head coach Vic Schaefer said during the SEC spring meetings that he was unsure why Mwenentanda decided to transfer but believed she wanted a bigger role.More: Texas women's basketball: It's been a busy offseason so far.
Are the Longhorns better off?Due to injuries to the Longhorns' squad, Mwenentanda started 15 games of her 37 appearances and had a career-high 19 points against Illinois in the NCAA Tournament second round.
She scored in double figures in eight games.
She appeared in 103 games, started in 18 and left Texas with 470 points.She joins a few others who've left the program while retaining eligibility: Jordana Cordio transferred from Texas to Seton Hall; Abbie Boutilier transferred to EIU; Laila Phelia transferred to Syracuse.Mwenentanda joins a Vanderbilt squad that burst onto the scene last season thanks to the efforts of freshman Mikayla Blakes.
