Sixers draft history: Thaddeus Young selected No. 12 overall in 2007

With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history.

The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise's history.This series continues with the 2007 draft.

Continuing to find their footing in the era post Allen Iverson, the Sixers held the No.

12 pick in this draft after a disappointing 2006-07 season.

With that No.

12 pick, they selected Thaddeus Young out of Georgia Tech.A solid player who did all of the little things needed for a team to succeed, Young started 22 games as a rookie as he helped the Sixers make a surprise trip to the playoffs in 2008.

He also helped Philadelphia get back there again in 2009 when he started 71 of the 75 games he played and averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals for the Sixers.Overall, he spent seven seasons with the Sixers, averaging 13.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

He was a part of playoff teams in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012.

He was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the big Kevin Love trade that offseason.

Overall, Young lasted 17 years in the league playing for the Sixers, Timberwolves, Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and Phoenix Suns.

He even matched up against the Sixers in the playoffs in 2022 as a member of the Raptors and made an impact for Toronto.
