The Colorado Rockies began the season 8-42.

That was the worst 50-game start to a season in MLB history.

On Friday night, in Game 51, they pulled out a 3-2 win over the New York Yankees.

There have likely been few worse regular season losses in the history of this storied franchise.

Starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt shared his pointed thoughts with reporters after the game.

And, as you read along, you'll note that he's clearly "pissed off." Were all competitors in here.

Anytime you lose, were pissed off, Schmidt said .

Were not trying to go out there and lose ballgames.

It shows in here in the energy in here obviously, everybodys pissed off.

But you play 162 games.

Youre going to have games like this, nights like this where you dont perform and you dont get the job done.

Obviously, it pisses you off.

Im pissed off right now.

So yeah, it definitely pisses you off.

The Yankees wasted Aaron Judge's 17th home run, which came in his first game at Coors Field.

The Rockies took the lead in surprising fashion, a two-run fifth-inning double by Ryan McMahon off of lefty Tim Hill, who hadn't allowed an extra-base hit to a left-handed batter all season.

The Rockies bullpen held the lead from there, and the Yankees headed into the weekend upset.

They'll get two more cracks at the worst team in baseball, and it might be a better feeling to try to win them.
