Jacksonville Jaguars' tight end named 'most underappreciated' on team

Who would you consider the most underappreciated player on the Jacksonville Jaguars heading into the 2025 NFL season?Tom Blair of NFL.com made his selection and went with tight end Brenton Strange, a player that many in the Jaguars' organization are excited about."Strange finished third on the team in targets (53) and second in receiving yards and receiving first downs (21), averaging over 10 yards per catch in a passing offense that was basically propelled by one receiver (Brian Thomas Jr.) and frequently led by the likes of Mac Jones," wrote Blair. After just nine targets in 2023, Strange took a massive jump forward in 2024, catching 40 of his 54 targets for 411 yards with two scores, according to PFF.As Blair noted, he was one of the more active and effective pass catchers on this Jaguars team last season.Along with his contributions in the passing game, Liam Coen also likes what Strange can bring to the run game as a blocker.
When an offense has a tight end who can be effective in both facets, it adds some unpredictability to that unit."Hell elevate just by alone getting more reps, and getting him on the field is a good thing for us," Coen said of Strange via Big Cat Country earlier this offseason.
"You can tell hes hungry, wants to continue to get better, and he showed some really nice things last year, especially after the catch.
Doing some nice things of breaking tackles and getting extra yards. In addition to being at the top of the Jaguars' tight end depth chart, Strange is also in an offensive scheme under Coen where the tight end position has been featured, which only suggests more opportunities are coming his way. This article originally appeared on Jaguars Wire: Jaguars' TE Brenton Strange named 'most underappreciated' on team.
