Texas baseball: Who will Longhorns play first at the SEC Tournament?

Despite both playing 30 conference games, Texas and Tennessees baseball teams missed each other during the regular season.The Longhorns and Volunteers will rectify that situation this week in Hoover, Ala.Texas will make its debut at the SEC Tournament on Thursday afternoon with a game against Tennessee that will begin at 3 p.m.

Texas (42-11) is looking to win its first conference tournament since it was the last team standing at the Big 12s 2009 event.Tennessee (42-15) is the No.

8 seed in the SEC bracket, but the Volunteers know their way around the city of Hoover.

Last season, Tennessee won the SEC Tournament.

The Volunteers, of course, then went on to win a national championship at the expense of a Texas A&M team that was led by current Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle.Tennessee joined Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Vanderbilt among the SEC teams that Texas did not play as it went 22-8 in conference play during the regular season.

Texas and Tennessee have played four times before, with their most-recent matchup coming in 2022.

During the Longhorns' first year in the SEC, the Texas athletic department is 6-6 against Tennessee in head-to-head competitions.
