Roseville announces Rashad Porter as new boys basketball coach

We want to make sure we set the culture as soon as possible because we have a lot of good things that we want to bring.Porter served as the skill and development coach at Southfield Christian from 2017 to 2019, helping the team win a pair of state championships.
From there, he went to River Rouge, where he spent three years as an assistant, then made his most recent stop at Brother Rice, where he helped coach a Warrior squad that won two district titles, a regional championship and make an Elite Eight appearance.Roseville HS Athletic Director Keith Marzec said that Porter was selected from a pool of nearly 30 applicants.He is high energy, well organized, and has strong vision for where he wants to take our basketball program, Marzec said.
His goal is to play at the Breslin Center and become an elite program.
He comes from a highly successful coaching tree and is ready to take our program to the next level.Porter starred at Romulus High School from 2005 to 2009, where he led the school to two MHSAA Final Four appearances while earning all-state honors as a senior.
He played in college at Marshalltown Community College in Iowa, then Henry Ford Community College before wrapping up his playing days at SVSU.Roseville went 10-12 overall and 3-6 in the Macomb Area Conference Red last season, marking the first time they finished with a losing record since the 2016-17 season.
They were largely coached by interim co-head coaches Janele Ellis and Eric Mack Jr.
