DETROIT -- Michigan football has long been known for its punishing defense but slow, methodical offense that sometimes gets stuck in the mud.

Such was the case last year, when the Wolverines had massive personnel losses and a complete coaching overhaul.

But head coach Sherrone Moore hopes that everything will change for the better this season.Moore brought in a new offensive coordinator in former North Carolina playcaller Chip Lindsey along with the top overall recruit in 2025 in five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

While on paper this Michigan offense should be worlds better than last year's, the pass game, in particular, will only be as good as the front as well as the receivers -- assuming the playcalling and quarterback play are better, as anticipated. With that in mind, one junior Wolverine wide receiver is doing everything he can to be the change his unit needs.Semaj Morgan working to improve his explosiveness and speedIn spring ball, Semaj Morgan told reporters that he's been working out outside of Schembechler Hall to improve his speed and explosiveness, working out with a personal trainer to enhance his ability in-game.On Saturday, WolverinesWire caught up with Morgan at his youth camp and he shared that he feels like he's on his way to the goal, but doesn't feel like he's a finished product just yet."I feel like I'm achieving it," Morgan said.

"I'm most definitely getting better at what I said I wanted to be better at, but I'm not all the way to the point where I say I have achieved it.

Like, so I feel like I'm still in the process.

It's a long process.

"I feel like this year is going to be a very important year for me.

Every single time we have off or anytime I have to go work out with my trainers, like that's where I will be.

Cause this is a very important year to me.

I just want to put it like that.

It's very important to me, and I'm doing it.

And I've been doing everything that I said I need to do for me to have the year that I want to have.

Like doing speed training, working out with Coach V -- I just want to shout out Coach V and Coach Joel, Coach Todd.

They do a lot of work with me.

Every single time we work out, I get better, and I feel myself getting better.

So everything I do, it's a reason behind it.

And I just can't wait to showcase my work in the season."Chip Lindsey is bringing out the best in MorganThough Morgan is a bit more diminutive in size, that doesn't mean that he should only be used in quick game, horizontal passing, and underneath routes.

At least, that's not how he sees it.And it appears that it's not how Lindsey sees him either.Morgan told us that Lindsey sees the full breadth of what he can do.

He fancies himself as a tactician when it comes to route-running, and that his new offensive coordinator is putting everything that Morgan has in his repertoire into action."I feel like when Coach Lindsey came in, he's seen the type of player I was throughout the spring," Morgan said.

"It's already night and day because I'm running more routes.

You know what I'm saying? And that's what I really do.

I'm a technician when it comes to routes.

So I don't like want to be running bubbles all day and stuff like Coach Campbell had me doing.

That's not me.

That's not my thing.

"Coach Lindsey really understands me.

He has me running routes down the field.

I still run bubbles and stuff, but I'm a receiver.

I'm a complete player.

So I'm not just like a bubble guy or end-around (guy).

So that's how I feel.

I feel like Coach Lindsey, like knew he was getting with me and he can't wait to use me and I can't wait to play for him."Fans will get an opportunity to see Morgan and the new-look Michigan offense in action starting on August 30 when the Wolverines host New Mexico for the 2025 season opener. This article originally appeared on Wolverines Wire: Semaj Morgan thrives in Chip Lindseys new Michigan offense.
