The Detroit Tigers are off to a red-hot start.

At 23-13, Detroit has the best record in the American League.

In the offseason, they brought back Jack Flaherty on a two-year, $35 million contract to go next to Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal and promising young right-hander Jackson Jobe in their rotation.

However, a team can never have too much pitching.

Detroit even could look to add an arm or two at the trade deadline.

Andrew Wright of Newsweek proposed the idea of Detroit pursuing right-hander Zach Eflin of the Baltimore Orioles.

"Eflin is in the final season of a three-year, $60 million contract, making him a prime candidate to be moved if Baltimore falls out of contention and feels it could get a nice return from a team who feels it desperately needs to add a starting pitcher," Wright says.

Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp "The Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Royals and Cubs are all teams that should have interest in Eflin, should he become available." Eflin is currently on the injured list, but he is 2-1 in three starts with a 3.00 ERA over 18 innings of work with Baltimore this year.

The Orioles have the second worst record in the American League at 13-22.

Baltimore picked up Eflin from the Tampa Bay Rays at last year's deadline.

If Detroit were to trade for him, they could bring in an innings eater and somebody who can generate swings and misses.

Eflin also has a little postseason experience from 2022 with the Philadelphia Phillies and later 2023 with the Rays.

It will be interesting to see where things stand at the deadline.
