ORD The Nebraska volleyball team closed out its spring practice by winning all four sets it played against South Dakota State on Saturday at Ord High School.

In two open-to-the-public matches, Nebraska won all eight sets it played against Kansas and South Dakota State.

And in doing so the Huskers showed they have many players who could help the team play at a high level, including some promising freshmen.

New head coach Dani Busboom Kelly feels good about what the team accomplished this spring.

We played great in all of our scrimmages and we got to see a lot of players in different situations, Busboom Kelly said.

The team I felt like got adapted to the practices and the coaching style.

And our staff found a good rhythm, especially this last week.

Busboom Kelly knows the team will face some adversity in August when she has to decide on the first group of starting players.

I feel like this spring prepared us to be able to handle that, and to stay together as a team, she said.

If we stay together were going to be pretty unstoppable.

Flynn goes distance at setter Freshman setter Campbell Flynn played all four sets on Saturday, instead of sharing time with returning starter Bergen Reilly.

Reilly has a minor injury.

Bergen has been kind of battling a sore wrist and after warmups we just felt like it was the best thing to do to not push it, Busboom Kelly said.

Campbell is super-capable and it's great for her to have that experience.

I really wanted everybody to get a start this spring so it was just a last-minute decision to not push somebody going into the long break.

Flynn graduated from high school early to join the Huskers for the spring, and feels good about the start of her college career.

I learned so much, Flynn said.

I think Ive become a better volleyball player, even just in the two months we had in the gym.

Fans all over The tradition of taking the team on the road each spring is a reminder of how many fans the team has outside of Lincoln, especially for the nine players on Nebraskas spring roster who arent from Nebraska, including junior outside hitter Harper Murray of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I forget, being from Michigan, how much volleyball is appreciated here, Murray said.

Obviously Michigan is more a football (and) basketball school.

I forgot how much our fans love us and love our sport.

Its just really fun coming out here..
