Popovich won five NBA titles during his time as coach and was named Coach of the Year three times.Popovich has faced health problems in recent years.

He suffered a mild stroke in November and second stroke in February.

After the second incident, Popovich stepped away from the team for the rest of the season.Popovich has been with the Spurs since 1994.

He started as the general manager of the team.
