New Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan is on fire during his first month on the job, already landing eight commitments from the transfer portal after former Texas Tech forward Federiko Federiko on Thursday night after the big man visited campus this week, including attending Texas A&M's baseball game vs.

Lamar on Tuesday night.

So far, so very good for a roster that was completely depleted after Buzz Williams departed for Maryland in early April, who took forwards Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington with him, leaving forward Chris McDermott as the only player on the roster.

McMillan had a tough job in front of him, but after hiring a veteran coaching staff that included to former Aggie assistants, A&M recruiting hasn't slowed down since.Less than an hour after Federiko Federiko announced his commitment, former Alabama/Kansas shooting guard Rylan Griffen, who recently visited Texas A&M, has received a prediction to become McMillan's ninth commitment from the transfer portal.247Sports basketball insider Travis Branham submitted his prediction for the Aggie to land Griffen amid the rumors that he could return to Alabama to reunite with head coach Nate Oats.

While Griffen's 2024 season with the Jayhawks was somewhat disappointing, averaging 6.3 points per game, shooting 37% from the field and 33% from 3-point range, he has proven his shooting ability over his three-year career and could reestablish himself within McMillan's high-scoring system.Out of high school, Griffen was the 43rd-ranked prospect in the 2022 class, and as a transfer, he is the 79-ranked portal player, according to 247Sports.Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions.
